Like to Sing? Become Part of Cantor Linda Hirschhorn’s Choir!
(April 27-May 1)
Shaarei Shamayim is thrilled to bring renowned musician and cantor, Linda Hirschhorn, to Madison as our artist-in-residence. She will work with participants weekday evenings and create a choir that will perform at Shaarei Shamayim’s 20th anniversary celebration on May 1.
She will also lead Kabbalat Shabbat services on April 30 at UW Hillel, 600 Langdon Street. Following the service there will be dinner at Hillel. Please contact office@shamayim.org for more information or to register for the dinner.
Cantor Hirschhorn is the director, founder and primary composer for Vocolot, the first ever Jewish Women’s a cappella ensemble. She is known throughout North America as an original artist of Jewish music. Her music is set to poetry and traditional liturgical and Torah text. She has released two songbooks and eight recordings of original material (four with Vocolot). Her songs and choral arrangements have been published in major Jewish and folk anthologies, are performed by professional and amateur groups around the world, and have been used in video, radio documentaries, and dance scores. She currently works in a Conservative congregation that incorporates elements of Reform, Renewal, and Reconstructionist traditions. Cantor Hirschhorn’s training program is open to everyone – so if you like to sing, please join us! All singing abilities are welcome. There is a discount for those who sign up early.
