Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremonies are central to ritual life at Shaarei Shamayim, and they have become very special community events. We are proud of our young members who experience this important rite of passage. This ritual celebration is a spiritual journey for the entire family, and the community’s goal is to support each family through this special time. We believe that a Bar/Bat Mitzvah should be personal, unique, and fulfilling for students and their families. They are also community events; many members of the congregation attend so that they can support the family on this day. The B’nei Mitzvah committee has developed an extensive B’nei Mitzvah manual to guide families through this process, and our rabbi has created strategies and tools to help the entire family engage in a thoughtful, intentional, and joyful process in preparation for the Bar/Bat Mitzvah. We work diligently so that both the process of preparation and the ceremony itself are meaningful expressions of Judaism. For more information, or to obtain a B’nei Mitzvah Manual, please contact Rabbi Laurie.
