Shabbat and Holidays

Twice a month on Shabbat morning we have Torah study and Services led by Rabbi Laurie and members of the community. For Torah study, 10-11 a.m., we explore one part of the weekly Torah portion and bring our own insights into the ancient text. For services, 11 a.m.–12:15 p.m., we sing prayers, recite English readings, and read Torah. Sometimes we have a Kiddush lunch following services.

Once a month we have Friday night services. These begin at 7 p.m. and are followed by a dessert potluck. Rabbi Laurie usually tells a story or gives a brief dvar Torah during the service.

Our High Holiday services are meaningful opportunities to engage deeply with Jewish tradition. Or community spends a great deal of energy throughout the summer and early fall preparing for them. They are free and open to the public, and we invite everyone to join us.

Other holiday celebrations throughout the year are important community events. They usually involve Jewish rituals, singing, dancing, good food, and good company.
