Shabbat and Holidays
Twice a month on Shabbat morning we have Torah study and Services led by Rabbi Laurie and members of the community. Our schedule looks like this:
For Torah study we explore one part of the weekly Torah portion and bring our own insights into the ancient text. For the teaching component, a member of the congregation teaches a new song or shares insights on one of the prayers. For services, we sing prayers, recite English readings, and read Torah. Once a month we have Friday night dinner and services. Our vegetarian potluck begins at 6:00 p.m. followed by services at 7:30 p.m. Rabbi Laurie usually tells a story or gives a brief talk during the service. Our High Holiday services are meaningful opportunities to engage deeply with Jewish tradition. Our community spends a great deal of energy throughout the summer and early fall preparing for them. No tickets are required for the services and all are welcome to join us. Other holiday celebrations throughout the year are important community events. They usually involve Jewish rituals, singing, dancing, good food, and good company.
