We'll gather for Shabbat dinner at 6:00 p.m. followed by a presentation and discussion by Madison's shlicha (Israel fellow), Shlomit Ezer. Shlomit will discuss new social initiatives in Israel that address Israeli Jews' desire to lead a free Jewish life that is not governed by the Orthodox rabbinate. She will share stories of individuals who are creating change from the grassroots in the fields of marriage and kosher certification. Shlomit will also explore the internal divisions among Israeli Jews and the complexities of Jewish religious life, practice, and observance in Israel. Please bring a vegetarian dish to share. Located at a member's home. Please contact the office for location.
