Shaarei Shamayim welcomes Rabbi Linda Holtzman for a special Shabbat program for our community. She will lead Torah study at 9:30 a.m. and services at 10:30 a.m. Rabbi Linda is a professor of practical rabbinics at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and runs the Tikkun Olam Havurah in Philadelphia. Ordained in 1979, she was one of the first women rabbis in the United States to serve as a presiding rabbi of a congregation. She is the former rabbi of Congregation Mishkan Shalom, Beth Israel Congregation, and Beth Ahava. She is also the founder of the Reconstructionist Hevra Kadisha in Philadelphia and led a community-wide program for Madison’s chevra kadisha in 2016.
